As described in an earlier post, a podcast is an episodic series of digital media delivered through the internet for download or streaming.
One can usually listen to podcasts in two ways: You can listen to a podcast by visiting a website and listening through the player on the webpage, this is called streaming. Or you can use software commonly called a ‘podcatcher’ to download the podcast episodes, store them on your phone, computer, or tablet, and play them whenever or wherever you’d like, independent of your internet connection. The later method is my preferred.
To Stream: Go to a website, such as beyondtheroute.com/podcast, and click the play button of the episode you want.
To Download: Get episodes delivered to your phone, computer, or tablet using an app.
- For iPhones and iPads the simplest and quickest solution is using the Podcasts app from Apple, found in the App Store. It might already be installed on your device. In the Podcasts app you search for Sultanate and then tap subscribe.
- For Android phones and tablets, I suggest you try the Stitcher app. Get the app from Google Play. In Stitcher, search for Sultanate and click the plus sign (+) to add it to your Favorites List. Now navigate to the Favorites List. Tell the app to download all new episodes by clicking the gear in the upper right corner.
It’s that easy.
